# Matrix

The questions asked under this chapter are usually the same as the question of sign language decoding (Coding-Decoding). Under these codes, the codes of different letters and numbers are given in one or two matrices simultaneously. In order to solve this, the process used in coding-decoding is generally adopted.
Now, let us carefully review the important examples and their interpretations for the clarification of the appropriate facts and the format of the questions.

Type 1

Example: By carefully studying the following metrics, find out which of the options below is the appropriate code for the word “TRACK”? The matrix is decorated in row major manner.  (a) 43,30,20,04,25 (c) 42,04,35,32,22
(b) 42,04,35,23,20 (d) 42,04,35,23,52

Solution (b) To solve such questions, first of all we will extract the code used for all given characters, such as
A ⇒ 00,24,35,43,52
C ⇒ 02,23,30,44,53
K ⇒ 03,20,32,45,54
R ⇒ 0422,34,40,55
T ⇒ 05,25,33,42,50

Here we find that there are five codes available for each letter in the matrix. Hence the code used in option (b) for the word TRACK, code 42,04, 35, 23, 20 is the appropriate code.

Type 2

⇒ Instructions In the questions given below, one word is represented by only one number group as in the options given. The number groups given in the options are represented by two groups of letters as in the two matrix given below.
The number of rows and columns of matrix 1 is given from 0 to 4 and matrix 2 is 5 to 9. These Letters in the matrix can be represented by row number followed by column number. For example, ‘M’ can be represented by 14, 21 etc. ‘O’ can be represented by 20, 32 etc. In the same way you have to identify the group for the word given in question.    Example 1. Which of the following shows the word “ROAD”?

(a) 04, 20, 55, 78
(b) 23, 32, 98, 99
(c) 42, 32, 79, 58
(d) 11, 13, 67, 69

Example 2. Which of the following shows the word “MOST”?
(a) 02, 13, 34, 56 (c) 33, 20, 11, 79
(b) 21, 00, 03, 88 (d) 40, 44, 22, 89

Solution:

1. (d) Because the given options are to find the code showing the word “ROAD.” Therefore, we will first determine that which digit pair code is used for each letter in the word ‘ROAD’.
R = 04, 11, 23, 30, 42,
O = 01, 13, 20, 32, 4,
A = 55, 67, 79, 86, 98,
D = 57, 69, 76, 88, 95

Now after carefully observing the given options we find that the word ‘ROAD’ is represented by 11, 13, 67 and 69 which is present in the option (d).
Hence the option (d) will be an answer. .

2. (a) Because the given option is to find the code showing the word “MOST”. Therefore, we will first determine which digit pair code has been used for each letter used in the word MOST. Thus
M = 02, 14, 21, 33, 40
O = 01, 13, 20, 32, 44,
S = 03, 10, 22, 34, 41,
T = 56, 68, 75, 87, 99

Now, after carefully observing the given options, we find that the MOST word is represented by 02, 13, 34 and 56 which is present in option (a).
So the intended answer will be (a).
