Series Reasoning Non Verbal

There are two of questions asked in this chapter. The first part is called the shapes and the other is called the answer figures. In the questions, there are four or four-figure given or some times there are three shapes. every next shape of the figure is a bit different from the previous. i.e. the second shape  came after a little change in the first figure, the third shape  came after a little change in the second figure, the forth shape from the change in the third shape, the fourth figure changes to the fifth, i.e. there is a fixed or random change in each shape and the candidates have to Consider this change and have to choose answers from the following shapes. Answer shapes have four or five main options, one of them has to chosen for the final shape of the question.

There are many types of changes between the shapes given in the category of series questions, some of them are prominent.

1. Changes based on the numbers

2. Rotation of shapes

3. Changes in the state of the shapes

4. change based on form and size

Change based on Numbers

When changes in shapes are on the basis of numbers, the number of shapes increases or decreases, but sometimes when the shapes are based on sides then there is also increase or decrease number of sides.

In the examples given below, we will see that as the number of shapes or the sides of the shape is increased or decreased.

I. Change in number of shapes

Example

Series Reasoning Non Verbal

Solution: (d) The shape of the question, that is, the number of  lines are increasing by one on both sides of the large line. According to this sequence, in the final shape, there will be six lines on both sides of the larger figure.

II. Changes in the sides of the shape

Example

Series Reasoning Non Verbal

Solution: (d) The sides of the question are increasing by one every time and the figure is going to have two, three and four sides respectively, so the fourth shape will have five sides.

Rotation of shapes

In this type of question, there is a random or fixed change in the question shapes and according to this change, the candidates have to choose from the next shape.

Example

Series Reasoning Non Verbal

Solution: (a) In the given question, the shape rotates in the clockwise  direction, the circle in each next shape goes to the next angle of the square. Similarly, cross mark (×) also moves in the direction of clockwise and goes to the next angle in each subsequent square. Therefore, (a) in all the four options will be correct, because the circle rotates on the left and the cross mark (×) will rotate downwards to the left.

Changes to the state of the shapes

Example

Series Reasoning Non Verbal

Solution: (a) Each of the next shape changes the three states respectively.

Changes in Form and Size

Example

Series Reasoning Non Verbal

Solution: (b) There are three figures in the question- □, O and ◊ since the ending shape of the three becomes the first figure, therefore the first shape in the answer will be □, then the middle shape is black, plain or is filled with lines. Since the middle shape is plain, therefore the first shape i.e. □ will also be plain.
